As an intern I was apart of an evolving network of high potential young leaders (ages 20-27), experienced business professionals, government leaders, coaches, and facilitators that served as mentors for participants in the Leadership Project. Since 1978, Prep has identified New York City’s most promising students of color and prepared them for placement at independent schools in the city and boarding schools throughout the Northeast. As an advisor my responsibilities included:o Mentoring and advising 7th & 8th grade students through rigorous summer program. o Serving as a teacher’s assistant grading papers and homework, and teaching class. o Coordinating meals, study halls, and recreational activities. o Supervising advisory sessions and being a role model to the students

o NFTE's curriculum covers a range of topics such as return on investment, supply and demand, opportunity recognitio, and marketing.o Students visit local wholesale districts or discount stores, participate in selling events, and meet local entrepreneurs.o Entrepreneurs and business professionals bring the outside world into the classroom, presenting on various topics to complement lessons being taught throughout the course.o There is a final business plan competition in which students present their business plans to a panel of judges, and compete for seed capital.
