Manager, Autoplan Support Services
North Vancouver, British Columbia
Responsible for co-managing support departments comprising of approximately 100 employees and supervisors. Our area was accountable for providing specialized vehicle registration services, imaging services, error correction resolution for customer databases, and technical support to the Insurance division.HighlightsIn 2001, I managed the team during the corporate Voluntary Separation Program. Twenty staff members were approved for VSP, and our management team did not replace the employees in those roles. In 2002, we implemented significant operational improvements to meet our existing service goals and operate with fewer team members. This work resulted in a 12% drop in operating expenses, and a 19% drop in full-time equivalent positions. In 2003 I was the corporate witness for an important job profile arbitration. In December the arbitrator dismissed the appeal which provided the company significant savings in back pay and future employee earnings. This award also reduced the risk of other potential job profile appeals from other employee groups in similar support roles. In 2003 and 2004 I amended vacation scheduling, operating hours, and distribution of work in one of my key areas. As a result our backlog was reduced by almost 90% at the end of 2004 compared to 2000.In 2004 and 2005 I implemented operational changes and workflow modifications to increase efficiency in our support areas, one of which enjoyed a reduction of 25% in overall workload. I also oversaw attendance management work in the support areas which stabilized our unplanned absences and improved morale in the overall team.
