Harshil BHATT (1996, India) is a film director based in Ahmedabad.Recently, his debut Gujarati feature film as a director and writer was released on 3rd May 2024 titled ‘Jagat’ produced by Krishnadev Yagnik (Big Box Series), Nilay Chotai (Ananta Businesscorp) and Dipen Patel (Patel Processing Studios) starring Yash Soni, Chetan Daiya and Riddhi Yadav.From the age of 14, Harshil assisted Late Nimesh Desai, a veteran theatre artist, for two years in more than 15 stageplays.After that, in a short-term filmmaking course, he experimented with making 5 short films, one of which, 'Fuel V/S Vehicle', won the Best Film Award at the Annual Youth Citizenship Festival 2011-12.Then he went on to work as an assistant director in Gujarati feature films like ‘Chhello Divas’, and in the script development team of ‘Shu Thayu?’ while also completing his graduation degree in Performing Arts (Drama) from J.G. College of Performing Arts.After co-producing and co-directing a short film titled ‘#TimesUp’ (available on Pocket Films YouTube channel), Harshil made 15 brand films for well-known brands such as Asopalav, Cloud9 Infraspace, Swara Group and Chemist180.Harshil wrote and directed two stageplays, ‘Patli Pin Ka Charger’ and ‘Swamy's Sound Studio’.‘Patli Pin Ka Charger’, a Hindi adaptation of Harold Pinter's Revue Sketches, had a good run of 7 shows all over Gujarat.‘Swamy's Sound Studio’, a one-act play based on the life of a foley artist working in the Hindi film industry, was performed at Abhivyakti- City Arts Festival 2019 and was shortlisted in the top 15 among 100 full-length plays across the country for Thespo-21.
