My name is William Kendrick, I am currently a graduate candidate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, studying Nuclear Engineering with a focus on computational simulation.I have six summers-worth of engineering experience, along with three full years of undergraduate research work:-During my time at Marlow Industries, I worked with the failure analysis team performing both destructive and non-destructive analysis of thermo-electric coolers. The tools I used included thermal imaging, scanning electron microscopes, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. -At Sandia National Labs I worked as a part of the iSAFE program, focused on two projects. The first invovled writing compatibility between an in-house radiation simulation program and MCNP6. The second involved modeling neutron detectors in MCNP to analyze efficiency and possible improvements. I continued work with Sandia as a telecommuting intern during my entire junior year of college.-At Kairos Power, I performed parametric studies on reactivity feedback of a reactor using the Serpent2 particle and radiation transport program. I also created studies to determine displacement damage of moderator materials, as well as studies on potential waste classifications of containment vessels at end-of-life.- As an Undergraduate Researcher for the University of Texas at Austin, I led a project involving the transfer of an Argon/Xenon mix into and out of UT's TRIGA reactor, as well as working on developing a test setup for irradiating Ca-40 samples for cross-section approximation.
