When I was 5 my parents took me to Radio City Music Hall to see Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. I knew then that I wanted to be a filmmaker. I found Dad's 8mm movie camera in a box when I was 9 years old and made my first film and it was very exciting. Four decades later I am still making little movies and I still get excited about crafting an image, telling a story, sharing an idea.30 years as a professional filmmaker has helped me hone and refine my approach and select a few styles of work that are really comfortable for me. My primary areas of concentration are visual storytelling, documentary style work and comedy. I like the direct, no "BS" quality of documentary and use it in commercials, corporate video and an occasional feature. Comedy is my comfort food, especially if it is a little dark around the edges. Filmmaking was my gateway into the world of advertising and brands. Working with some of the top agencies in the world strengthened my creative development and branding abilities. Adapting agency workflow to my business made me a more effective creative and a better leader. To me there is nothing more exciting than a good brainstorming session, working with talented people to create work that compels and gets results.On a day to day basis I develop creative concepts and strategies with agencies and brands. I Assess creative needs and develop platform-specific executions (copy, photography, video, social, 360/VR, branded entertainment). I Produce and direct branded content and commercial shoots for national/regional clients. I write copy, proposals and treatments. I Manage a diverse, multi-disciplined team of post and digital artists, oversee budgets, forecasting and business operations. My work has long had an an entrepreneurial edge. I have served as owner and creative director for my own production companies for 20 years.
