I wrote a policy analysis focus on tax-exempt bond financing for affordable housing. As part of this I interviewed 28 different experts in the field including developers, bond counsel, financial consultants, and officials at state and local government agencies across the country. I developed recommendations around changing the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee's allocation rules, how San Francisco could create an open indenture or bond recycling program, and federal advocacy priorities around tax-exempt bonds. I also analyzed budgets and bond transcripts for all 4% LIHTC/bond projects from 2014-2019 in San Francisco to develop a data set about costs, sources of subsidy, interest rates, and bond maturity dates.

Edit and compiled weekly emails to send out to over five thousand students, alumni and community members by coordinating information from various other staff members. I also took over Communications Director’s duties such as fully managing all newsletter communications and coordinating events communications with other staff members in interim period after my supervisor left her position and then onboarded the new Communications Director. Manage and create content for various social media presences including editing multiple blogging platforms for the Institute of Politics including Tumblr. I independently learned how to use a new email database management system, integrated data from existing system into the new system and taught other staff members the system by creating a tutorial guide and leading an office-wide training session.

Assisted in research for former Senior Advisor to the President David Axelrod’s memoir by conducting independent historical and news research and compiling reports used by Mr. Axelrod while writing. Conducted research to provide Mr. Axelrod with information such a polling numbers and historical background to be used when speaking at public events and television appearances.

Managed content for Institute of Politics website including conducting a series of Q&A’s with alumni in public service and compiled survey data to create program specific email lists along with complete email mailing host. Created social media strategy and managed a variety of social media platforms including a blog, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr to promote the Institute of Politics amongst students and involve students in program opportunities.
