I have worked in the field of information Technology for more than 16 years starting from the Network installation and implementation for brand names such as Novell and Microsoft and technical support in both hardware & software and networks in both components LAN and WAN, and then I moved to work in programming and achieved some commercial application in the Maritime field. When I became an IT Manager in one of big Shipping Company my focusing moved to how make IT dept. a tool to manage the Information systems resources that are available to assist companies to reach their goals and strategy. This helped me to leverage MIS role in managing its service function to be like any other management dept. such as Human Resources Dept. and Financial Dept., but more than that, making IT Dept. a profit center, not cost center as used to be.
