My role is to lead and manage the development and implementation of risk and assurance plans to mitigate the company's exposure to financial, operational and other risks.

As the Manager Compliance Risk -Enterprise Risk Services, my role was to protect and enhance customer and shareholder value and improve business performance through ensuring effective enterprise-wide risk management. In this role I was an integral member of the Enterprise Risk Services Leadership Team that oversaw the compliance risk management program supporting the Board and management in demonstrating that Aurizon is managing its enterprise-wide compliance obligations.

In November 2010 the QR National business listed on the Australian Securities Exchange as one of Australia’s top 50 companies and Australia’s largest rail freight operator. As Governance Systems Manager for the below rail Network business, I led the integration and continuous enhancement of a risk management strategy, including development, implementation and monitoring of a governance framework. My role formed part of the Finance and Regulation team providing support advising on Network regulatory compliance to ensure achievement of regulatory requirements, maintaining relationship with the Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) and contributing to the development of the Access Undertaking and associated compliance process. In March 2012 my position transferred from the Network business to the Enterprise Risk Services team, as part of the QR National functional organisation restructure. The primary purpose of the Governance Systems Manager role during this period was to integrate and contribute to key risk management deliverables of the Enterprise Risk Services area whilst completing agreed transition compliance risk deliverables for the Network function.

Queensland Rail (QR) during the time I was with QR it was a Government Owned Corporation providing rail transport and passenger services. The QR Network business (previously known as Network Access) was responsible for operating a 9,500 kilometre rail network serving the coal, freight, passenger and intermodal transport markets. During the period 2003 to 2010 I performed three similar roles (listed below) responsible for ensuring Network embeds and maintains an appropriate risk management, governance and assurance culture that meets the needs of both the Network business and QR Limited.

The QR Internal Audit Unit provides independent, authoritative advice to the Chief Executive and Audit Committee on all matters relating to internal audit activities within QR. During my time with Internal Audit, in addition to my role as Principal Auditor (Manager) I also undertook the responsibilities of the Chief Internal Auditor role for QR for 6 months.

Over 20 years experience in both line management and professional positions assisting the Brisbane City Council improve performance through managing risks to achieving strategic and operational objectives.Key objectives / achievements:• Provision of high quality consultancy services to a diverse portfolio of business managers (including elected officials, senior executives, middle management, engineers, legal, marketing and front-line supervisors)• Led many projects aimed at developing and implementing business process improvement enhancements to address identified areas of concern.• Performed HR manager role for Council department consisting of 850 employees providing a comprehensive range of specialist services through a small dedicated team of professionals.
