We are living in a time where digitalization has flattened the society bringing the people closer to their financial service providers. This brings tremendous opportunities for them to make their customers' lives purposeful and productive. Conversely, this has also increased the expectation of the customers of their providers to be able to respond and act in a timely manner.I am a true believer of financial service providers making decisions based on data (hard statistics and soft sentiment data). The advent of machine and deep learning and availability of big data coupled with advancement of computing power makes this a real possibility. I have first-hand experience developing such models for price prediction and financial sentiment analysis and automating investment portfolio review. Having said that this will only remain as a vision if hastily executed. Institutions must have the tenacity and willingness to act long term with state-of-the-art infrastructure investment to realize their purpose driven vision. I want to be part of this journey.In my private banking days in Citigroup and Credit Suisse, I had interacted with people of different personalities and diverse interests. It was a business where perseverance matters. I had the grit to see through onboarding of new customers to a revenue run rate of USD250,000 by end of my second year in Credit Suisse.After that, I started a water products distributor. The first product was a water ioniser from the US. Using my experience and contacts, I strategize marketing efforts to develop prospective customers. Subsequently, I developed an incentive system to build, retain and motivate existing customers into the sales channel. I am a true believer of enhancing customer lifetime value rather than transaction value. The business is largely intact despite the pandemic with our direct to customer model. I have developed a chat bot to continue engaging existing and prospective customers while the sale channels can be more productive in closing sales.
