Founded in 2002, ICS is a DeKalb county public Charter School providing International Baccalaureate (IBPYP) Certified educational opportunities for refugee, immigrant, and local children with an advanced international education.Recruited after serving as a founding Board member to provide strategic direction for all fund development for this start-up, Charter school in one of the 5 largest refugee resettlement areas in the U.S. Designed and implemented the fund development plan and outreach efforts that included printed collateral, E-newsletters, online content, and public presentations. Led Board-level discussions related to development strategy and implementation. Selected Achievements: • Generated $4.8+ million in grants including $2+ million from 18 foundation grants, $1.1+ million from 15 federal and state grants, and $1.5+ million in individual donor contributions. • Directed annual auction through a team of volunteers growing first-year profit of $7,000 to $35,000 within 3 years, along with significant in-kind donations. • Delivered numerous public presentations at the Chamber of Commerce, community service organizations, and faith-based groups to raise awareness of the school’s mission and educate the community on the efficacy of programs offered. • Key contributor to the school’s success with a 100+ student wait list after year one. • Initiated a series of home-based “Friend Raising” events that expanded supporter base and built public awareness for the organization’s unique mission. • Mentored on fund raising and development planning by Coxe, Curry & Associates consulting firm, applying expertise to exceed development expectations for the School.
