Formally Gaylord Entertainment Company, I led the corporate risk management department and was accountable for developing, implementing and directing the administration of a centralized risk management program. The portfolio included group-oriented Gaylord Resorts & Convention Centers, Gaylord Springs Golf Links, the Wildhorse Saloon, the General Jackson Showboat, Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, and WSM Radio. The acquisition of ResortQuest in 2003 added vacation rental management, property management, and real estate sales services on the Gulf & Atlantic coasts, Hawaii, and Midwest ski resorts until it was divested in 2007. Responsibilities included the development of the insurance program structure, purchasing of insurance, management of equitable retention tolerances, develop and track life safety & loss control programs, emergency preparedness, business continuity, property conservation programs, and claims management. Also during my tenure, we completed three OCIP projects and managed significant coastal and inland natural catastrophe losses.
