This work involves the synthesis of magnetite nanoparticles (NPs) functionalized with carboxylic acids and amino acids. The synthesis was carried out using a chemical route of co- precipitation. This route allows the production of NPs functionalized using a basic infrastructure, low cost of production, the latter very important, especially if we consider the potential applications in the field of environmental remediation. In the case of biomedical applications also chemical route is the best alternative in this case however requires a more extensive characterization and clinical trials.
