About W. Thomas Means, Phd, Ctrs
Assistant Professor and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with experience working with a variety of populations with a variety of abilities in the outdoors and community setting. My research is concerned with the construction of phenomena and the subsequent impact of that construction. Specifically, I examine the epistemological and ontological implications of dominate research paradigms and methodological representations within leisure studies scholarship and pedagogy. Additionally, I examine the confounding implications of an individual's meaning making capacity, based on constructive-developmental theory, within recreation therapy interventions for individuals experiencing disability, disease, illness, and/or life circumstance.
