Following my time in Civica's Business Analysis practise, I made the decision to move into the Technical Consultancy arm of the firm. Continuing my work on Civica's largest ever project, I quickly formed a hybrid role for myself, working closely with both the analytical mapping team and the technical ETL development team.This uniquely specialised position has allowed me to develop my skills in Data Mapping, Modelling and Analysis, as well as ETL Development, all while using industry standard toolsets and techniques. Similarly, working with senior consultants enabled learning in general skills such as Advanced SQL, PowerQuery and VBA for automation.Since my role change I have begun training for the Microsoft MCSA in Business Intelligence, with a view to progressing on to achieve the MCSE in Data Management and Analytics. Following the completion of my second year at Teesside University, I joined the PPIS team with DuPont Teijin Films in Dumfries, Scotland. The year was an excellent opportunity to develop my skills as a professional and as a student. The following were my key achievements:- Improved the business’ ability to analyse and investigate process data by introducing a brand new database and logging system on the processing units.- Provided training to operators from all processing units to ensure staff were aware of the benefits of using the graphical reporting applications used on site.- Worked as part of a team that maintained and improved the real-time and historical process data software based on the business’ changing requirements.- Provided front-line support to users requiring assistance.- Liaised with the local, European and International management teams to introduce and implement new products across the site.- Communicated project information to European leaders of DuPont both in a one-to-one and group setting.- Introduced to QlikView and Tableau business analytics software in order to manipulate data from large relational databases – working with seniors to demonstrate BI dashboards to management.- Worked on large Excel spreadsheets, both to analyse data and as part of ETL projects for SSIS, SSRS, custom macros and DBIV (DB4) conversions.- Developed new Business Intelligence solutions in order to facilitate reporting of process data.- Maintained and actioned a regular backup schedule for process data both within SQL Server and from raw data files.

It was my role to ensure smooth business operation via customer management, stock auditing and ordering, dealing with external company representatives, attending sales events to improve both my and the company's understanding of new products or services available to us, as well as much more.Despite only working part time, I built up a loyal customer base and was able to assist other members of staff with improving their sales experience.
