After working at a large agency, I was ready to move in-house. As a data center launch manager, I used my experience in PR, social media and project management to launch four Intel Xeon processors (plus a couple adjacency products) globally. I integrated across business units, centers of excellence, product teams, marketing teams and geos to set strategies and execute the launches, each one more impactful than the last.

Looking for a new challenge, I accepted a position at a large tech PR agency, supporting the Microsoft account. From May 2013 through June 2014, I supported Internet Explorer, working on media and awareness campaigns designed to encourage consumers and web developers to rethink the browser. From partnerships with big brands to hosting media tours to working with teams in Europe and Asia, I focused on developing and executing strategies to drive adoption of the browser.My next role was with Microsoft's Legal and Corporate Affairs team, where I put my policy and public affairs background to good use. More specifically, I used earned, paid and owned media strategies, social media and events to drive forward the company's privacy message with policymakers and IT decision makers.

After six years in-house, I wanted to experience life at an agency so I joined Prichard Communications to provide non-profits with digital marketing and social media support. I oversaw day-to-day management of three accounts, which ranged from developing and executing online campaigns to creating online content to monitoring and tracking client's online community performance and growth. In addition to overseeing a major website redesign, I also maintained a client's blog, taking it from 2-3 posts per week to 10 posts per week (writing five and soliciting five from partners and bloggers). While sharing frequent recommendations for Twitter and Facebook posts, I also led social media trainings for our clients. Clients included Reclaiming Futures (Portland, OR), Green House Project (Arlington, VA), Health Leads (Boston, MA), NACWA (Washington, DC) and Playworks (Oakland, CA).

Wrote, edited and solicited articles about current events, politics and Asian American culture for the Asian American Action Fund blog.

Ready to head back west, I was excited for the opportunity to open a media relations office in the Bay Area to support New America's state policy efforts and ensure integration between the local and national policy teams. While media outreach was an important part of this role, I also worked to strengthen the policy team's ties with local (LA, SF, Oakland) and state non-media influencers and elected officials through public events and by creating and running social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter. Content creation was also part of the communications strategy, with both traditional (op-eds and fact sheets) and online (blog posts, e-newsletters and maintenance of a state-specific website) components. Policy areas included: political reform, healthcare reform, asset-building, oil and energy, climate change and higher education.

I went on to lead the entire event planning process for 200+ public and private policy events, including marketing, directing staff and arranging the logistics. In addition to traditional media outreach, I identified up-and-coming reporters and bloggers and started a monthly lunch series to build relationships between these influencers and our policy experts, while also producing 10 video commentaries to respond to current news cycles. Finally, I had the pleasure of training and managing two staff assistants, who have since gone on to do great things. Policy areas included: foreign policy, early and higher education, asset-building, healthcare reform, broadband access, social security and economic growth.

Jumped into the policy world at the New America Foundation, a nonprofit think tank. I supported both the fellows and policy programs with PR (drafting press releases, media advisories and daybooks) and communications (sending monthly newsletters, assisting in planning 115 public events and updating NAF's website).
