I learned the basic elements of the news from the newsroom computer systems to field production. I also learned story research, basic news writing, and production. I was exposed to the decision making process, was challenged on questions of ethics, story content, story placement, and story selection. I learned about the online extension of the newsroom, and shadowed reporters out in the field. In addition, I learned interviewing skills, sound byte selection, and lead writing.
