Virology (HIV) RMSDs at Merck Research Laboratories conduct field-based medical affairs activities as a therapeutic and disease area expert, connect with scientific leaders and medical providers about clinical/scientific interests, and facilitate company research activities, including company-sponsored research and investigator-initiated studies. My interests include understanding how to improve HIV care in the South and how to extend HIV PrEP services, especially to more rural and underserved groups.

Explored new product ideas to reduce hospital-acquired infections by developing and fostering relationships with key opinion leaders in critical care and infectious disease areas. Proactively gathered and tested intelligence data to assess and monitor competitive technologies. Identified and selected clinical sites while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. Liaised with FDA regarding safety, efficacy, and study design. Designed and authored four clinical protocols; directly liaised with KOLs and principal investigators during a multicentered trial across 54 US sites and three Spain sites demonstrating the efficacy of silver-coated endotracheal tube in reducing ventilator-associated pneumonia.

Developed controlled release pharmaceuticals for analgesics, antibiotics, and vaccines using biodegradable polymers. Completed animal protocols. Oversaw GMP manufacture of vaccine microspheres for clinical trial. Served as SBIR technical representative liaising with companies developing controlled release drug products.
