Responsibilities similar to that of an Information Systems manager. All systems functions reside with me. Responsible for the entire debt collection system, ensuring architectural requirements are addressed, system design is optimised, new business requirements are translated into specification documents and solution is developed and delivered by the various service providers.Once solutions are delivered operational support is provided to business users and any improvements identified and if viable added to the system by means of continual re-evaluation of the system.

Systems Analyst and Systems designer for Shoprite's pharmacies, MediRite and Transpharm the pharmaceutical wholesale division.My role exposes me to the whole retail landscape, from the wholesale distribution up to the front end point of sale. Day to day activities includes business intelligence analysis, financial reconciliation and analysis, multiple integration points between different systems and assisting users in understanding data extracted in various reports.

At PayU various roles were assumed, Product Manager, Project Manager, Product Owner, Business & Systems Analyst, and Product Support.Valuable exposure to PCI-DSS, Secure 3D, ISO 8583, local banks and banking systems. Detailed knowledge on card issuers, acquiring relationships for merchants, card not present eCommerce transactions including MOTO and recurring flows. Also dealing with corporate, small, and medium businesses on various aspects of product and integration solutions. Various integrations between banks, payment providers and other 3rd parties were my responsibility. Once integrations were complete and transactions processing various reconciliations where performed on systems and financial levels to ensure integrity of the integration.Scrum methodology was followed with multiple teams involved in delivering the end products. Requirements were broken down in manageable user stories detailed by story descriptions, use cases, flow diagrams and any other artifact to ensure final product meets the acceptance criteria set out by business.My time at PayU saw the company grow from a handful of people with one core product to a major player in the online payment space.

Team lead, systems designer, and developer. Technologies used, classic ASP, Microsoft .NET, Microsoft Sql, IIS, PHP, and various open source eCommerce systems.Experience included creating payment plugins for shopping carts like Magento and add-ons for WordPress, Joomla, and others. Working with one of the largest payment processing system in South Africa. (SafeShop).Integration of the core system to various internal and external systems. Development of custom various reporting tools to monitor system and transaction health.

Short term contract. Being part of a small but dynamic team we created a call center application for one of South Africa's fastest growing banks, under budget and on time.Technologies used, .NET, Microsoft Sql, and service oriented design.

This position provided the opportunity to come into contact with payments from government, business, and customer perspective. Loved traveling to Uganda and Kenya on regular basis as it also gave me excellent opportunity to explore the local cultures and customs returning with richer experiences each trip.Technologies used, .NET (C#), PHP, MS Sql, and web services.Responsibilities included system and financial reconciliations to ensure correct transaction amounts were processed. I also got my first taste of business and system analysis at BSA.As development team lead I got the opportunity to get involved in mentoring junior developers.

I was approached by the diving school's owner to assist in training divers. I quickly realised that teaching and training provided a lot of satisfaction and assisted in living the dream I wanted to by moving out of the city. The owner unfortunately sold the school shortly after I sold my business. I then decided to return to IT.

I bought a small business in Saldanha to escape the rat race and follow a lifelong dream of living a simple close to the ocean enjoy the fresh air. Reality was harsher than expected and in 2009 I sold the business to regain my life.

Front end web developer, used mainly XML, XSL, XSLT, CSS to produce content sections for the MWEB portal. Also maintained the Mail and Guardian newspaper archives in a full text search engine called NXT3 (NextPage)Other technologies used were MS SQL server, IIS and classic ASP.

These were the days when a webmaster was employed to basically do everything web related.My duties were to ensure maximum up-time of the web servers, creating and maintaining static and dynamic company websites and implementing the NXT3 (NextPage) full text search engine. As with startup companies many other tasks were required to ensure everything ran smoothly.I mainly used HTML, JavaScript and classic ASP to develop company websites. The NXT3 application was also customised by creating custom XML, XSL, and CSS. It was a very hands-on role which offered me the opportunity to build a wealth of experience early in my IT career.
