I manage security standards for Qualcomm. This includes:* Leading a team that carries out innovative security design work in 3GPP and in emerging technology spaces, including short range wired media transmission; data provenance and combatting deepfakes; Drone / UAV; vehicular communications, especially V2X.* Tracking and influencing emerging security certification requirements in standards and regulation* Anticipating impacts on standards and product from incoming technical developments such as the need to move to post-quantum cryptography, increased connectivity and autonomy on edge devices, or possible future applications of AIIn the past I've focused more narrowly on (recently) automotive cybersecurity certification standards and (over 15-20 years) V2X security and public key cryptography, especially post-quantum crypto. In those subject areas, contributions include:* Key contributor to the V2X security system design in many different projects, including leading (and later co-leading) the development of IEEE 1609.2 and 1609.2.1 and the global harmonization of V2X security via ETSI and the relevant Chinese standards organization. Currently focused on clarifying system management questions around certificate management policies and concepts, misbehavior detection / reporting / remediation, and the meaning of V2X trust in a world without a single global policy.* Post quantum crypto -- one of the named inventors on the falcon signature algorithm, selected by NIST for standardization (although the bulk of the technical work was done by others). Worked for NTRU cryptosystems and Security Innovation on standardization and adoption of the NTRU algorithms* Participant in UNECE WP.29 (representing SAE) and the development of standards related to ISO 21434 and 24089, ensuring that the perspective of tier 2+ suppliers in the auto supply chain is properly represented.Excellent writing and speaking skills. I enjoy coaching, mentoring, and helping people understand underlying issues that drive or constrain technical solutions. I know more than I should about getting Word to do exactly what I want it (except sometimes column width in tables when track changes is on).
Listed skills include Security, Cryptography, Java, Testing, and 23 others.
