In 1983, I began my career as a financial security advisor for London Life in Chatham, Ontario. Early in my career I accepted various management roles in Guelph, Mississauga and in Chatham, Ontario before accepting a number of leadership positions in the corporate home office beginning in 1993, when I led the Leadership Development Program for field management with London Life. During my time at head office, I held several roles including: Director of Training and Development, and Vice-President positions in distribution planning and operations and in Field Development and Product Support. I assisted with the strategic development of the financial planning firm; Freedom 55 Financial and chose to leave home office to lead the Southwestern Ontario Financial Centre as their Regional Director for all offices west of London in the year 2000. Working with a dedicated management team, I enjoyed many years hiring and developing financial security advisors until retiring from this position in May of 2017. In my active career, I had earned several financial planning and one agricultural based, professional designation, adding the Elder Planning Counselor designation - or EPC in 2006 as a Charter Member of the Canadian Institute for Elder Planning Studies. I no longer maintain my financial planning and agricultural designations as of March 2022. I speak and write publicly as an advocate for the aging, educating audiences on the monumental societal shifts that today's improved longevity and unprecedented demographic challenges present. In my message, I work to engage my audience to identify what they can do now to prepare for the effects of a rapidly aging society so that seniors, their families, their caregivers and support advocates can look forward to a better world in which to age.
