    I applied biomaterial science and tissue engineering techniques to the development of retinal organoids. My goal was to develop organoids with more mature and natural photoreceptor physiology and functionality than organoids created using conventional methods. To this end, I created several protocols that utilized biomaterials to reconfigure the human retinal organoid model from an "apical out" configuration to an "apical in" configuration in order to bring RPE and nascent photoreceptors into an appositional relationship.
