I'm a quick learner looking to get my first job experience in the environmental field. Originally a biomedical engineering student at the University of Connecticut I have always tried to pursue a career that would enable me to make a difference. Once I became aware of all of the anthropogenic tragedies occurring globally, I decided that I wanted to focus my attention on environmental science. I am currently double majoring in environmental science and biology, and I am specifically interested in researching ways to improve bio-remediation, GMO technology and fossil fuel alternatives.From a young age I was taught many important skills thanks to my participation in a program called Destination Imagination. During my 3 years participating I learned how to think critically, how to effectively communicate as part of a team, and most importantly, how to quickly think of creative solutions to unique problems. Traveling to the global championships in order to compete also taught me how to work under tremendous pressure, and to make friends with people from different countries.In high school I gained even more engineering experience by competing in a global submarine race, where each team designed and built their own man powered submarine. 32 teams from around the world competed at a naval base in Washington D.C., 30 of them from major colleges and universities.Through further schooling I have been exposed to many different laboratory settings and instruments, and have developed many useful skills both in and out of the lab. I am excited for an opportunity to put them to good use and look forward to connecting with you!
