Realtime developed new business processing software for individual health and term life carriers and distributors. It created the most complete straight-through-processing technology in the marketplace from eApplications, eSignatures, to automated underwriting and electronic policy issuance. Bill named and branded the company in its early formation, and helped build the business through strategic planning and marketing communications. In 2008 the company was growing at 300% year-over-year and in August was named an Inc. 5000 company (number 1266). However, in the fall of 2008 the stock market collapsed, and so did the company's sales pipeline of insurance companies. In the first quarter of 2009 the company merged with a strategic partner and shut down its independent operations.

Convergence Data helped property and casualty insurance companies increase underwriting margins and reduce loss ratios through predictive data that supplemented and enhanced their traditional underwriting and fraud data. The company provided nontraditional data from subprime financial sources and check-approval services for auto and homeowner insurance underwriting. It was merged into Realtime Solutions Group LLC.

Projects ranged from strategic planning to sales literature, annual reports to ad campaigns.

Held various consulting and marketing communication positions with (most to least recent) Austin Consulting, Burson Marstellar, Coopers & Lybrand, G. D. Searle & Co., and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.

Served as a Public Affairs Officer for the Naval Support Activity, Da Nang, Vietnam. While there supervised the documentation of Vietnamization and wrote a book on the history of the Navy in that country. Prior to that served two tours on the USS Coral Sea (CVA 43), an aircraft carrier operating in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam.
