Ever since I was a little girl, I was always drawing… everywhere. You could find my scribbles in books, walls, even underneath tables. I always knew I wanted to do something related to design. The spark ignited when I illustrated my first book in 2019. Hello there! I am Xaen, an aspiring children’s book illustrator deeply passionate about children’s illustration and engaging children in art projects. I have always been a fond lover of children’s books, spending more time admiring the illustrations than reading. My love ranges from simple illustrations like The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds to meticulous ones like Disney. My other career aspirations include being a children's art teacher or art therapist. Education:I am expected to graduate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) with an Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) Diploma in April 2024. During my time in NP, I undertook a module called Language and Literacy. From the module, I learned about how stories varied for each age group and what captured children’s attention. Coupled with my domain knowledge and passion for illustrations, I am confident in making compelling visuals that are age-appropriate. Internship: During my 6-month internship at PCF Sparkletots, I seamlessly integrated my passion for visuals with my diploma. I fashioned multiple engaging art lessons which also targeted the other domains of children’s development. This internship has honed my understanding of children’s interests, broadened my spectrum of innovative art projects and equipped me with effective classroom management techniques. Personality Traits:Known for my genuine and bubbly personality, I strive to live it out with everything I do; from the art I create, to the way I communicate with others. My "service with a smile" attitude ensures the communities I work with feel welcomed as I actively seek to understand people’s views. This fosters open communication which avoids misunderstandings. Let’s connect: I merge the enchantment of storytelling with the impact of visuals and a touch of humor to impart valuable life lessons through stories. I aim to nurture creative minds and kind hearts through various art projects where possible. Having helped several books come alive, I hope to help yours too!

Visual ArtistArt Of Awakening Oct 2019 - PresentSingaporeI have been working part-time at Art of Awakening since October 2019. I started as an intern and managed to work my way up to become a core visual artist on the team. My time there has sharpened and advanced my skills in visual communications. As the go-to person for product design ideas, I play a pivotal role in driving creative projects to success. Here are some key achievements:Prototyping for Baracadi: Meticulously prototype designs for a high-profile project with Baracadi. After carefully listening to the different ideas the design groups shared, my teammate and I collaborated together to ideate the 10 drafts. The customers were contented with the visual concepts which aligned seamlessly with the group's vision and objectives.Whitehorse Laboratories Onboarding Video: Successfully led a team of 4 in the creation of the onboarding video for Whitehorse Laboratories.
