We are building a single National Competence Centre in HPC, HPDA and IA in the Netherlands and collaborating with a European network of 33 National Competence Centres (NCC) in HPC to bridge the existing HPC skills and knowledge gaps while promoting cooperation across Europe.

As a PhD student at CTTC, I developed the HPC² (Heterogeneous Portable Code for HPC). It is a fully-portable, algebra-based framework capable of heterogeneous computing with many potential applications in the fields of computational physics and mathematics. This framework aims to provide a user-friendly environment suitable for writing numerical algorithms in terms of portable linear algebra kernels. In its application to computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the algorithm of the time-integration phase relies on a reduced set of only three algebraic operations: the sparse matrix-vector product, the linear combination of vectors and the dot product. This algebraic approach combined with a multilevel MPI + OpenMP + OpenCL + CUDA parallelization naturally provides portability.By way of example, our team has demonstrated the single-device performance of the HPC² on many Intel Xeon and Intel Xeon Phi processors, different NVIDIA and AMD graphics processors and ARM-based SoC devices. Besides, the parallel performance has been demonstrated on up to 200 nodes of MareNostrum 4 supercomputer (two 24-core CPUs each), 64 nodes of TSUBAME3.0 supercomputer (two 14-core CPUs and four NVIDIA P100 GPUs each) and 64 nodes of Lomonosov 2 supercomputer (one 12-core CPU and one NVIDIA K40 GPU each), among many others.
