As a physicist with a strong background in design and realization of high tech prototype equipment and machining, I’m an intermediate between customer and craftsmen/realization.Understanding the physics, final application and specifications of a product is vital to ensure a functional product that not only meets the customers’ demands but is also manufacturable given currently available (state of the art) production equipment. I’m involved in various technology integration projects, where depending on the status of the project, my input varies from early customer contact, conceptual design, engineering including 3D CAD design, SAT/FAT support, up to planning and financial reporting as technical project leader.Especially the “build-to-specification” projects I find challenging and rewarding as they cover the entire product realization process and allow me to really attribute to the project with my strengths and knowledge.

I am currently working in the field of bio-nanoscience, studying properties of DNA and RNA using single molecule techniques e.g. solid state nanopores, optical- and magnetic-tweezers. During this Postdoctoral research, I have further specialized in development and realization of experiment specific hardware e.g. magnetic-tweezers and nanofabrication of solid state nanopores using cleanroom techniques (optical- and electronbeam-lithography, dry- and wet-etching, optical- and electron-microscopy imaging).
