Xandra Peter, Ed.D is a Equity and Strategic Engagement Manager at Lake Washington School District at Lake Washington School District. Colleagues describe them as "I supervised Xandra in her role as a Resident Adviser at Western Washington University. Xandra worked hard to develop an authentic leadership style and engage her community by meeting the students were they were at. Xandra was a facilitator in our intergroup ‘Courageous Conversations’ in which students discussed topics of various social issues. She is willing to discuss her understanding of her own social identity and involve others in difficult conversations about race, cultural awareness and privilege. As a paraprofessional educator she excelled in building diverse communities and I am eager to see the work she can complete as a professional in our field of multicultural education. Xandra also co-created and planned a program series for Fairhaven “Cultural Awareness Week” which included 5 consecutive programs about issues of identity, cultural appropriation and reflections on diversity. Xandra was awarded and recognized by the WWU Center for Education Equity and Diversity (CEED) for this event series. I also worked with Xandra as a scholar. Xandra worked with myself and two of her peers to develop a presentation together for the WWU 2016 Diversity Teach-In Conference. We tackled the topic of applying the theory of Community Cultural Wealth and its pedagogical application to the classroom. "
