Workers' compensation can be confusing. I've made a career out of advising HR, safety, operations and executive leaders with understanding and navigating business needs related to workers' compensation. I've been a workers' compensation adjuster. I've been part of and led workers' compensation programs for nonprofits as well as national and multi-national corporations. I currently serve on the board of the Atlanta Chapter for RIMS (Atlanta RIMS). From time to time, I speak publicly about how successful return to work programs function in workers' compensation. We have seen incremental workers' compensation benefits increase since the inception of the social insurance program. We should continue to ask ourselves if those benefits, the speed at which they become available and the policy decisions to fund these programs is adequate for today's workers and beyond.
