Development and test of an embedded Hardware Abstraction Layer in C and assembly for processors and System on Chip developed by the CSEM

Communication via Ethernet between a softcore processor embedded in a Xilinx FPGA (Verilog and C programming) and a computer using a Graphical User Interface done with Qt in C++ under Linux, for real-time video processing from 2 cameras

- Hardware and VHDL firmware (for Altera FPGA) development of the new generation of the data acquisition card used to readout all the sub-detectors for the LHCb experiment of the CERN- Development of the control tools of the data acquisition card via PCI Express in C/C++ under Linux- Maintenance of the current version of the data acquisition card (VHDL firmware, C control tools, …)- Hardware design and schematics with Cadence Allegro, hardware testing and debugging of the cardThe LPHE institute of the EPFL (Laboratoire de Physique des Hautes Energies) is active in the particle physics. It is collaborating with the LHCb experiment of the CERN (for the Large Hardon Collider in Geneva), which try to understand why after the Big Bang the matter and the anti-matter where in equal quantities in the universe, but now the matter predominate. To increase the frequency of the collisions in the particles collider, the LPHE works on the development of the new generation of its data acquisition card used to read out all the sub-detectors of the LHCb experiment of the CERN.

For an embedded platform for motion control designed by the engineer school, moving the regulation functions of a motor, done previously in assembly in a DSP, to a microcontroller in C/C++ using areal-time embedded Linux and Qt for the LCD touchscreen display
