I got this fighter’s instinct during my years in the Special Forces, during which I had the honour to serve for the Royal Dutch Marine Corps, and deployment to Cambodia under the United Nations. The combination of my deal making skills and my fighter’s attitude, prepared me for the fast-paced world of derivatives. Derivatives TraderAfter finishing my Master’s in Finance at Nyenrode University, I started trading Index options on the Options Exchange in Amsterdam, which was then still open outcry. This was also the time when trading made its first transition towards electronic trading. I had the opportunity to help set up an equity derivatives trading desk at an investment bank in London, and subsequently my own market making company trading on the German Eurex market.Derivatives BrokerThe transition from trading derivatives to broking them, was an easy one. The ability to establish contacts with new clients, building a relation with them, and growing an existing relationship into a lifelong partnership, became my key assets. International EntrepreneurBlue Bayou Real Estate BrazilAfter leaving the financial markets 10 years ago, I partially moved to Brazil where I invested in real estate investment opportunities at an early stage. I furthermore managed several real estate development projects, and I am currently setting up as a real estate agent is this booming region of Brazil.During this time, I also worked on various medium-to-longer term projects in India, Ukraine, Luxemburg and the Carribbean.This year I made a full move to Brazil in order to divest in some real estate that I invested in 10 years ago, acquire new lands, new property development projects, and set myself up as a real agent in this booming region.
