Through my participations in many performances and productions such as Super24 and external performances, I have learned to become a more confident individual. Having gone through this dance journey, I have become a more extroverted person. Even though it took me awhile, I am able to handle my stage frights better now. I am also a good communicator as communication is an important aspect in running a good performance. Without it, everything will fall apart and likewise with the real world! My experience with the performing arts have also made me a better innovator. Being involved with creating performances and dance pieces have thought me how to create better and adopt the mindset of an inventor. The most important skill I gained in performances and productions is to manage teams better, since we often take turns to lead classes and rehearsals. Learning to empathize with team members when they are not feeling the best and observing how my team members are feeling that particular day has helped me become a more compassionate leader.I am a firm believer that business and the performing arts have a lot in common. When we interact with customers and clients, we have to put on a show; to communicate and express what we want to them to see in a particular product or service. Likewise as a dancer when I perform, most of the times through movement alone, I need to express and converse with the audience. Apart from dancing, I have also taken a few part time jobs in the F&B industry. Working in the F&B industry really taught me how to work with new people of different ages. It has also taught me how to present myself professionally. In this industry, I have also become a quicker thinker and a more patient person. This is made possible since I have to remain calm and think of a solution when dealing with mishaps between customers.Using all these relevant skills I have, I am confident and eager to work in the arts and business scene in the future.
