My parents are part of the 30K+ Hmong refugees that immigrated to the US in the 70's, a result of the Secret War. As a child to parents forced to flee from war and persecution, I've a unique perspective. "The Struggle" IS real and I know that first hand, whether that be finances, self doubt/confidence, and drive.I'm in my role today as a result of hard work, having a positive attitude, empathy, proving to be trustworthy, and bit of good favor. Currently, I'm working to grow PSG from good to great! PSG was acquired 7 years ago, and I've spent the past 6 refining our infrastructure (culture, process, financial statement integrity) from small business to big business, making sure each change was sustainable for the long haul. Now that the foundation has been laid, we're ready to show why we're the best in the biz. I'm really excited to innovate!In 16 years of experience, from an AP Staff Accountant to Director of Finance and every role in between, here's what I've learned about myself and what I bring to the table:1) People first. At the end of the day, businesses don't have emotions; people do. I attribute much of my success to being empathetic and compassionate. At the staff level, I cared for more than just 'my work', and made myself available to help where and when ever else I could. At the Director level, I'm self-aware of my ability to directly effect people's work and livelihood. People first is always the right answer; this builds trust from your team and produces the work business pay people to do. I value good character and lead by example; I build strong teams.2) Infrastructure wins. Shortcuts always catch up to you in life. Have you seen the recent meme, comparing appliances from the 80's to those now built in the modern day? Slow down, put in the time, learn, and then build upon that. That feeling of instability is unshakeable; proper infrastructure is how you overcome that doubt.3) Words matter. Try not to overpromise, underdeliver. People don't forget when you've failed them. Trust is free until it's lost, and then it becomes the most expensive thing in the world. If I say I'll deliver, have confidence that I'll come through.
