He completed a detail to the Bureau's Office of Consumer Response, providing the Office assistance with specialized legal and policy issues related to the processing of over 25,000 monthly complaints regarding consumer financial products and services.Prior to joining the Museum and the federal government, Blake held a variety of positions: he was an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he specialized in antitrust and internal investigations matters; he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gerald Bruce Lee of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia; and he taught third grade and coordinated the community service program at the Collegiate School in New York. While clerking for Judge Lee, Blake helped found a program that helped place students of color in judicial internships across the country.Blake is active in his community, currently serving as a member of the St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School's Annual Giving Leadership Council, assisting with STP's top philanthropic priority; a Tree Commissioner for the City of Takoma Park, helping oversee the Urban Forest and hearing tree permit appeals; and as Secretary for JusticeAccess, a nonprofit helping those in need of legal services. Additionally, Blake has served on the Headmaster Search Committee, on the Governing Board, and as Head of Annual Giving for the St. Albans School. Previously, he served as a Class Agent and Class Secretary for Amherst College and on the Board of Directors for the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the District of Columbia.Blake holds an A.B. cum laude from Amherst College and a J.D. cum laude from the Howard University School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Howard Law Journal. Blake lives in Washington with his wife, Lisa, and three children, Hank, Sam, and Cleoria.
