• Working on biofilms, multicellular bacterial communities embedded in an extracellular matrix with surface adhesion ability. • Performed bacteria mutagenesis, various biochemical and biophysical characterization methods including confocal microscopy to study Vibrio cholerae, a human pathogen • Led independent multidisciplinary research on peptide characterization to reveal the science of a unique peptide sequence found in bacteria as a bioadhesive functions under the water• Developed multiple assays to investigate the interfacial adhesion strength and cohesion strength of the peptide bioadhesive• Publishing a first-author paper on Nature Communications about how Vibrio cholerae biofilm matrix proteins attach to abiotic surfaces and biotic surfaces like human intestinal epithelial surfaces while maintaining affinity for the native exopolysaccharide• Helped to file a provisional patent about novel wet adhesives
