Postdoctoral ResearcherUniversity Of St Andrews Jul 2013 - Dec 2014St Andrews, Fife, GbI worked on the direct coal fuel cells (DCFCs) project, specifically the oxide anodes for DCFCs using solid coals as fuel. The DCFC devices adopted in st andrews are hybrid cells which incorporated molten carbonates in solid oxide fuel cells, with reinforced interactions between solid carbon/coal and SOFC anode. The material compatiblity with carbonates, performance and stability in DCFC operation were investigated. -
Phd StudentUniversity Of St Andrews Oct 2008 - Jun 2013St Andrews, Fife, GbI worked on the high temperature solid oxide electrolysis cells for H2 and/or syn-gas production, in seek of alternative cathode materials for high temperature electrolysis of CO2 and steam. - Ceramic oxide cathode materials were researched, and cathode/electrolyte interfacial microstructure was modified to obtain comparable performance over traditional nickel-cermet cathode;- Cathode kinetics of electrochemical dissociation of CO2 via high temperature electrolysis were investigated, as a function of operating temperature, fuel composition, applied potential, etc., respectively;- Durability of ceramic cathode was studied, in term of high temperature CO2 electrolysis and high temperature CO2-H2O co-electrolysis. -
