A highly accomplished professional at collaboratingXiaobo Chen was born into a musical family in Shanghai, China. At age 16, Xiaobo competed and won the Third Prize in the Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona, Spain. After graduating with top honors from the High School of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Xiaobo earned her Performer’s Certificate and Artist Diploma from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, under the tutelage of Mr. John Owings. During her studies at TCU, Xiaobo took the top prize of the Martin Memorial Piano Competition in TCU, Second Prize in the Texas Music Teacher’s Association in San Angelo, Texas. After enrolling in UNT for her degree study under the tutelage of Dr. Pamela Mia Paul, Xiaobo made her Carnegie Hall Debut in 2000 after winning the Frinna Awebach Competition in New York. Xiaobo performed as a soloist with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, TCU Orchestra, UNT Orchestra, and the Oklahoma Arts Festival Orchestra. Her performance of the Beethoven Third Piano Concerto was described by the Fort Worth Star Telegram as “…with thunder and impetuosity”.From 2006, Xiaobo Worked as a collaborative artist, working and performing with the students and faculty members from the UNT Woodwind Division. She collaborated with countless undergraduate and graduate students for their degree or non-degree recitals, as well as concerts with the Woodwind faculty members. Xiaobo traveled all over the world, performing with the UNT Saxophone professor, Eric Nestler.. Her countless chamber music performances are catalogued at the UNT music library. Since then, Xiaobo has become a sought-after collaborative pianist in the DFW area.
