I am a highly motivated Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry with expertise in synthesizing and characterizing porous materials using photophysical instrumentation, as well as investigating bacterial detection and killing. My current research focuses on how modifying ligands affects the luminescence properties of MOFs, with the aim of improving their performance in sensing and imaging applications. I am also exploring the potential of MOFs with donor-acceptor chromophore radical anions as catalysts for specific organic transformations. This involves synthesizing MOFs, characterizing their structural and photophysical properties, and evaluating their catalytic activity. Moreover, I utilize confocal microscopy to distinguish pathogens based on their interaction with cationic conjugated polymers. I am also studying the antimicrobial properties of these polymers when activated by light, which generates reactive oxygen species. Through my work, I hope to contribute to the development of new materials and techniques that can have a significant impact on various fields, including chemistry and microbiology.
