Over the past 14 years, I have devoted myself to chemistry research, and worked on many multidiscipline projects including polymer science, biological materials, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and environmental science. Many of these projects are collaboration research with multiple universities around the world. Each of these valuable experiences is a result of my passion and effort in developing better understanding of science and contributing to the society. I strive to continue my journey on finding out more interesting scientific facts and developing more value-added materials.

1. Collaborate with the University of Alabama at Birmingham to Improve a sugar-sensing array by using a low-cost linear copolymer. The new sugar-sensing system is able to differentiate 8 common sugars including fructose, glucose, galactose, ribose, maltose, lactose, sucrose and trehalose in neutral pH water solution. 2. Develop a multi-binding site model with boronic acid modified poly(amidoamine) dendrimer to understand the science facts behind the sugar-sensing system. This knowledge can in turn help to improve the sensitivity and selectivity of the sugar-sensing system.

Synthesize new sugar sensing receptors: boronic acid modified poly(amidoamine) dendrimers (PAMAM). The percentage of boronic acid moieties on the PAMAM dendrimers are well controlled and confirmed by NMR spectroscopy. An sugar-sensing array was successfully developed and can differentiate 4 common sugars including fructose, glucose, galactose and ribose. A paper about this research was published in Journal of Material Chemistry, Part B in 2016.
