Clinical Biochemist In Inborn Errors Of Metabolism
I have been taking the technical lead in establishing a clinical LC-HRMS-based metabolomics platform for screening and diagnosis of inherited metabolic diseases. My responsibilities also include managing projects with multiple internal and external partners. Establishing a new LC-HRMS-based metabolomics platform, including but not limited to • Planning, supporting, and coordinating the projects in collaboration with external laboratories • Investigating and identifying HRMS instrument, such as holding technical meetings with instrument vendors, such as Waters, Agilent, Bruker, and Thermo Fisher; sending pilot samples for sample testing and instrument performance evaluation • Participating to set up assays for semiquantitative and qualitative measurement at the external laboratories • Supporting the projects with bioanalytical input and data generated at external laboratories • Summarizing assay development and all sample analysis data in reports • Representing my team to deliver and present project progress, data quality and scientific inputs to internal stakeholders • Participating and/or leading grant/funding applications to obtain the financial support for LC-HRMS setup and/or LC-MS method development and pipeline setup Communication with projects, including • Writing up the project charter and project contract for the work in collaboration with external laboratories • Scheduling and chairing project kick-off meeting, project status meeting and project closeout meeting Completed an “Advanced Analytical Chemistry" Course A flair of using IT-systems, such as programming and experience in big data analysis with R and MATLAB Teaching at University
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Project 1: involved in one EU project (https://www.holofood.eu/) aimed to identify holistic solution to improve animal food production through deconstructing the biomolecular interactions between feed, gut microorganisms and animals in relation to performance parameters. I’m mainly dedicated to metabolomics analysis.Project 2: develop machine learning algorithms, based on Orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry data, that will enable us to predict concentrations of unknown compounds.
Postdoctoral Researcher
I was dedicated to analysing serum metabolome to discover and identify markers of blood doping. These markers could be used in sports drug testing as alert markers of the potential misuse of blood transfusion.
Phd Candidate
My PhD project aimed to analyse urinary metabolome to discover and identify novel biomarkers reflecting specific food intervention conducted both in studies of animal species and human.Responsibilities and accumulated skills: Planning, execution and reporting of a 3-year research project Metabolite profiling by LC-MS and LC-MS/MS (Qtof and Orbitrap) Executing and reporting the metabolism and excretion of interested metabolites Interpret the potential biotransformation pathway including phase I and phase II in the liver, fermentation by gut microbiota and excretion in urine Experience with metabolite identification and interpretation of metabolic fates Hands-on experience with preparation of biofluid and food samples Hands-on experience with analysis of peptides formed by enzymatic hydrolysis Synthesize phase II metabolites (glucuronide and sulfate conjugates) Knowledge with GCP Experience with advanced data analysis (PCA, PLS-DA, ASCA) Coordinator and lecturer on a PhD course Two months external stay at Fondazione Edmund Mach Institute, Food Quality & Nutrition Department, ItalyKey results: PhD project: Successfully identified and characterized 33 biomarkers reflecting food intervention. The application of multi-discipline allow for greater insight into the imprints in urine metabolome Awarded Academic Conference Travel Grant One paper is chosen as front cover by the journal ‘Agricultural and Food Chemistry’ My search is posted in three Danish newspapers: TV2/lorry, Fødevarefokus, and Weekendavisen
