I am Yang Xiao, a computer science student at McMaster University, with a current GPA of 3.9. I have a diverse set of technical skills in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, Haskell, and ELM. Additionally, I have experience in computer architecture, OpenGL, Unity, operating systems, WordPress, Flutter, Flask, and QA.During my time at McMaster, I have been recognized with various honors, including the McMaster President's Award, and I have made the Deans' Honor List for the past three years. I am proud to have worked as a teaching assistant for data structures, where I provided clear explanations and assisted students in understanding course material. I also prepared tutorial materials in advance, including slides, handouts, and practice problems, to ensure that students had a comprehensive understanding of the course content.Recently, I worked as a website developer for Hell's Gate Airtram Inc, where I designed and developed a visually appealing, functional, and mobile-responsive website using WordPress, resulting in a better user experience and increased website traffic. Additionally, I implemented ReCaptcha and Akismet to protect the contact form against spam, ensuring reliable communication with customers.I have also worked as a research assistant for deep learning character control, where I conducted research on the application of deep learning techniques to improve character control in video games. I developed and implemented novel algorithms for character movement and behavior using Python, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.Furthermore, I have led the development team to design and implement image recognition technology to identify food that users consume, utilizing Python and Dart to manage the APIs of ChatGPT and Whisper models to form a report of calorie intake. I also analyzed users' data on body mass index (BMI) and workout preferences to generate a personalized fitness list, including types of exercise, time, and duration.Overall, I am a driven and accomplished computer science student with a diverse range of technical skills and experience in various roles.
