Research Assistant (Phd Candidate)
- Developed a mathematical fluid mechanics model to determine the optimal 3D bioprinting parameters for any given bioinks with specific rheological properties.- Designed novel bioinks that have desirable rheological, mechanical, and biological properties suitable in 3D bioprinting, including cellulose nanofiber-collagen composite, thiolate hyaluronic acid-methacrylate collagen bioink, etc.- Collaborated with the Food Science department to develop whey-protein microgel for 3D printing of stretchable, soft robotics and for 3D bioprinting of cartilage tissue engineering- Utilized Freedom Reversible Embedding of Suspended Hydrogel (FRESH), as a strategy to generate engineered nasal cartilages with customizable and homogenously distributed functional cartilage matrix.- In vivo stability study in nude mice models further confirmed the effectiveness of our strategy, which provided a path forward for clinical application.- Analyzed the engineered cartilage with various crosslinking densities through RNA-Seq. The goal is to determine the cartilage related genes and pathways that can be altered by biomaterial stiffness.
