I am in charge of designing, assigning, and supervising all software subteam projects that further improve the rover’s software controls system. Last year, I implemented a C++ rover simulation program that generates random data to mimic real rover sensors using YAML sensor information to test source code. I also developed a C++ autonomous traversal algorithm that takes in computer vision and GPS data to find the destination point marked by the tennis ball and determine what path the rover should take to reach it.Other projects include a rover control Web GUI, implemented using HTML, CSS, React.js, and integration of ROS. This GUI displays the rover’s location, destination, task progress, and sensor data and allows the user to alter rover switch states and subsystem states. As part of the competition team, I participated in both the 2017 and 2018 University Rover Challenge and tested rover functionality in mock trials of equipment servicing, extreme traversal and delivery, soil analysis, and autonomous tasks in preparation for the actual competition.
