Profile bio

About Steven Shen

I am Xiushi Shen, currently working as an Autonomous Systems Software Engineer at Greenworks. I specialize in developing, integrating, and testing autonomous mowers and electric off-road vehicles. I hold a Master's degree in Robotics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Tech. I'm now pursuing a Master's in Computer Science at Georgia Tech.During my time at Greenworks, I have led the development of the Optimus autonomous lawn mower, focusing on SLAM and perception. I've implemented sensor fusion using EKF, integrating data from stereo cameras, wheel encoders, IMUs, and RTK for precise localization. I also developed a LiDAR mapping package based on FAST-LIO, enhancing localization and navigation capabilities.Previously, as a Software Engineering Intern at AI Racing Tech, I worked on the autonomous IndyCar project, implementing speed planning, radar perception, and Kalman filter-based localization algorithms. I also developed a multi-object tracker for vehicle tracking using the Autoware framework and created motion-planning algorithms for Go-Kart control tested with the Carla simulator. One of my standout projects was the Multi-Sensor Fusion for Autonomous Vehicle Localization. I engineered an end-to-end solution incorporating cutting-edge 3D LiDAR SLAM techniques within the ROS framework, utilizing technologies like LIDAR, IMU, GNSS, and point cloud maps for enhanced localization precision. My skill set includes programming languages such as C++, Python, and MATLAB, and I am proficient with software and simulation tools like ROS 1/2, Gazebo, CARLA, and Simulink. My experience also covers frameworks and libraries like OpenCV, PCL, Eigen, and PyTorch, and development tools like Git, Jira, and Docker.I am passionate about advancing robotics and autonomous systems, leveraging my extensive academic and professional background to drive innovation and excellence in the field.
