Acting as Chief Architect for a client that developed one of the State Public Healthcare Exchanges under the PPACA Act (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka "Obamacare").In this position I have many responsibilities cover the entire spectrum of software development, from close collaboration with business stakeholders, providing technical leadership and guidance to a large team of developers, as well as working with compliance and infrastructure specialists to ensure our system will go live in the most scalable way possible, whilst still meeting our compliance needs with laws such as HIPAA and industry standards such as PCI/DSS.My work starts from working with the business to understand the details of what is required to meet both the PPACA law needs, as well as the specifics of the client State's requirements. From there I determine the best possible overall application architecture to meet those specific requirements, and the broader requirement to develop a shared platform, allowing a single configuration-driven codebase for all State's Exchanges. From the "big picture" I work with our other Architects and Team Leads to create a holistic vision for each subcomponent ensuring that it fits consistently into the whole.I also collaborate closely with members of our technical staff on integration points including integration into the CRM component of the system, reporting, EDI and other third party integration points.

As the founder and General Manager for Mobility Product Solutions at Neudesic, I had nationwide responsibility for the Mobility Practice inside Neudesic, working with our regional Account and Delivery teams to deliver outstanding mobile solutions for our clients.For our work in developing Windows Phone 7 solutions for our clients, Neudesic was awarded the 2011 Microsoft Mobility Business-to-Consumer Application Partner of the Year award.I brought the full breadth of Neudesic's Enterprise Services to bear in order to bring the depth of the client's data center down to the mobile device in a common sense way.The team I headed up delivered Mobility solutions for mobile devices (including Windows Phone 7 as well as iPhone, iPad, Android), through native Windows Phone, iOS and Android clients, or mobile web solutions leveraging Neudesic's web platform expertise. We also brought expertise in developing partially connected PC applications, for example for performing data capture in remote locations and syncing once the device is back on the corporate network.Also during this time I was also a member of the Technical Advisory Board for Windows Phone 7.5 (codenamed "Mango"), a small group of advisors brought in by Microsoft to help shape what the Windows Phone 7.5 should include.

The application was built using a platform independent framework of my design, that let us do our initial rollout in an ASP.NET platform, then move to a WinForms host with little or not application or UI change (the UI was all expressed in XML, which remained largely unchanged when we moved to WinForms)

Designed and led development of www.dell.com globally (now in 85 countries), first to an in-house built engine of my design, written in C++ and using XML to generate 1 million static web pages every night. In 2000 I led the port of this system to ASP.NET using C#, and then spent 18 months moving the platform to Dell.com's current look and feel, finally launching at the tail end of 2003.

Developed systems that help spearhead a 5x increase in company profits during my tenure, specifically Renault's in-showroom car selection and financing system, and the software the linked this through to the mainframe for underwriting the customer while they are still at the dealership.

Initially started out writing actuarial applications in BASIC and C, then moved to the mainframe IT department, writing reporting and account management applications in COBOL and EasyTrieve Plus. Also developed a CASE tool for putting together Jackson Structure Diagrams, all written in C and x86 assembler. Although a text-based DOS app, I created my own GUI framework for pull-down menus and dialog boxes and even had mouse support.When Windows 3.1 was announced in 1991, I got the beta bits and taught myself C++ and Windows API programming using Borland C++.
