I co-teach the senior capstone class "Concept to Consumer I and II" which brings together students from Product Development and Fashion Merchandising majors to work in cross-functional teams directly with a Brand Partner through the entire development process and product launch. First semester this includes research into consumer profile demographics, trend and market, concept ideation, creation of patterns, tech packs, and prototypes. Second semester focuses on product launch strategies including social media and other marketing plans, product costing and pricing, and implementing an omni-channel sales plan. I crafted the curriculum for and have taught several (12+) industrial sewing workshops with a focus on beginner skills (single needle lockstitch and overlock machines), basic seams, hem finishes, zipper construction techniques. Averaging about 18-20 new skills in 2 days. Student success rate in Pattern/Construction I has improved by 30% as a result of these workshops.I created and taught the course "Introduction to Sewing", helping students to make 4 basic garments and get to know both knit and woven materials. In the course "Apparel Evaluation", I taught students how to identify and review apparel construction, fabrication, and quality features, while understanding historical context as well as current trends.
