I have been qualified as a diagnostic radiographer since 1999 and have worked in a variety of NHS hospitals since this time. I have also completed a MSc in Medical Imaging with postgraduate qualifications in CT and interventional radiography. I currently specialise in CT and MRI scanning at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. During this time I have also lectured both for our own placement students within my workplace, and at open study days to a wider radiography based audience.Outside of clinical work I was a union representative for the Society of Radiographers trade union for over 8 years. This involved me dealing with local issues and members interests within my own department, or with wider policy and pay negotiating committees within the NHS trust where I sat on 2 wide ranging committees. This has also led me to speak publicly at the SoR annual delegate conference where issues affecting the union as a whole are debated. Further I have completed introductory training in public affairs and lobbying the political process. Along with this, I am currently Chair of the London Regional Committee of the SoR where we look at wider aspects of the SoR and its duties. Recent successes in this aspect include developing a bullying and harassment presentation for local hospitals and organising a hugely successful annual study day aimed at all radiographers, which can lead me to organise anything from 50 to 250 delegates.
