The R+D+i Network in Advanced Materials for Energy (XaRMAE) evolves towards the R+D+i Network Energy for Society (XRE4S), with the aim to broaden the scope to all the energy aspects, and therefore become a transversal and interdisciplinary network to promote the energy transition at a regional and international level, given the importance of the European and national strategic programmes in the field of energy.The XRE4S gathers 35 research groups from 14 Catalan universities, research centres and technological centres with a total of 528 researchers, ~29% of who are women. 7 out of these 35 groups are led by women, which account for ~20%. These research groups work in the priority actions of the SET Plan, the Energy Transition National Plan and the RIS3CAT Energy Community.The XRE4S has designed a tech transfer and valorisation programme to boost the impact of this transfer to the industrial and social fabric in Catalonia and convert the region into an energy innovation pole at international level.
