Christina Rivera (Cogswell) is the winner of a Pushcart Prize whose essays have appeared in Orion, Terrain.org, The Kenyon Review, Bat City Review, Catapult, Atticus Review, HuffPost Personal, River Teeth's Beautiful Things, and elsewhere. She recently won the John Burroughs 2023 Nature Essay Award, the highest annual honor for a creative nonfiction essay on place, science, and the environment. While Rivera credits the fragmentation of her writing to her young children, she is also the grateful recipient of residencies at Millay Arts and Craigardan. Her debut book of essays—a collection of ecofeminist reflections from the confluence of motherhood and marine life—was selected as a finalist for the Siskiyou Prize for New Environmental Literature as well as longlisted for the 2022 Graywolf Press Nonfiction Prize.
