I am an easygoing person but motivate to pursue self-designated goals. I enjoy the camaraderie of group participation but not afraid of work independently. Former research works focused on four aspects: 1, real-time monitoring the growth of thin films in a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) vacuum chamber by an oblique-incidence reflectivity difference (OI-RD) method; 2, using surface plasmon resonance and optical linear diffraction to study the surface diffusion of Hydrogen and Xenon molecules on copper surface under vacuum and low temperature; 3, develop an image scan system of microarray located in a flow cell with label-free OI-RD technique; 4, real-time monitoring the combination of surface-bound target biomolecules and dissolved probes. Skills: Competent with vacuum system, pulsed laser deposition, OI-RD technique, ellipsometry, linear diffraction, surface plasmon resonance, atomic force microscope, semiconductor/excimer/Nd: YAG lasers et al., microarray printing robot.Softwares and languages: C++, Labview, Matlab, Solid Words, Mathematica, Visual Basic, Tracepro, Fortran et al.

From monitoring results, reaction kinetic constants were obtained for different reactions. -
SpecialistUc Davis Oct 2006 - Mar 2008Using Xe grating with modulation depth as thin as 1~ 5 monolayers, we excited surface plasmon polariton waves (SPPW) on Cu(111). We used OI-RD to excite SPPW. From the resonance angle, we have determined the optical dielectric constants of single crystalline Cu at two different wavelengths. At elevated temperatures, we used the decay of SPR signal at low temperatures(45-54K) to study surface diffusion of Xe on Xe(111)/Cu(111).Templates of Xe are readily formed by modest laser-induced thermal desorption. We made hydrogen (H) grating with removable Xe template. Hydrogen diffusion on Cu(111) at temperature range from 80K-210K was studied. We determined the diffusion energy of classical over-barrier hopping of H adatom on Cu(111). We also observed quantum tunneling.
