Tailings Dam Safety Risk Assurance Review. The project is to perform dam safety risk assurance review of 12 Tailings dam structures of a major mine located in South America. Responsible for tasks including geotechnical data review, data interpretation, material characterization, numerical modeling and report preparation.Stability and Deformation Analysis of 140-km long levees in Indonesia. Responsible for slope stability analysis, liquefaction triggering and seismic deformation analysis of multiple cross sections of the levee. The analyses include developing Geostudio model for static stability assessment, performing liquefaction triggering calculation, site response analysis with Deepsoil, and developing FLAC model for prediction of seismic deformation.Seismic Deformation Analysis of a Tailings Dam located in Peru, South America. Responsible for performing dynamic FLAC analysis to evaluate the seismic response and stability of the TSF dam.Liquefaction Triggering and Seismic Deformation Analyses of Rampart Dam, Colorado Spring Utilities, Colorado, USA. Responsible for performing liquefaction triggering and seismic deformation analyses for one section of the Rampart Dam. Seismic Response Analyses for the Rankin Site of Central Bay Side System Improvement Project (CBSIP) in California, USA. Responsible for developing one-dimensional DeepSoil models to predict the seismic responses and PGA amplification in foundation soils.Settlement and Seismic deformation analyses of Chimney Hollow Dam. Responsible to perform calculations of construction-induced immediate settlement, consolidation settlement and long-term settlements of the foundation and embankment materials. Field Supervisor in Freeport McMoRan Miami Operations, AZ. Responsible for supervising the field investigation activities involving sonic-drilling, SPT sampling and piezometer installation. Additional responsibilities included CPT data interpretations and liquefaction triggering analyses.

Validation of a Numerical Model for Performance-based Design of Geosynthetic Liner Systems. NSF. Conduct lab tests and inverse analysis to validate a numerical model for performance-based design of geomembranes. The work included design of a lab centrifuge model and performing numerical inverse analysis with SHAKE2000 and FLAC 2D to validate the accessibility of a numerical model for performance-based design of geomembranes in landfills.Effect of Waste Settlement and Seismic Loading on the Integrity of Geomembrane Barrier Landfill Systems. NSF. Conduct numerical analyses of the impact of settlement and seismic loading on prototype landfill systems to identify conditions that are a threat to the integrity of the liner system. The integrity assessment involved developing FLAC 2D model with geosynthetic beam elements for prediction of both static settlement and seismic-induced stresses and strains in liners, and conduct numerical calibration of the dynamic properties by a one-dimensional software SHAKE2000.Stability Analysis of a Geosynthetic-reinforced Soil Slope. Conduct numerical calculations with a FEM software, SLIDE 6.0, to evaluate the stability of a geotextile-reinforced soil slope. The analyses involved estimation of critical slip surface and prediction of forces in geotextile.Seismic Deformation Analysis on a Heap Leach Facility. In collaboration with MWH, responsible for performing linear seismic response analysis using SHAKE2000, and developing FLAC 2D model for dynamic stability assessment.
